At first glance, Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers sounds like one of the most straightforward power-fantasy isekai anime imaginable. An ordinary merchant is summoned to another world, dismissed as useless, abandoned by the kingdom that brought him there, and then suddenly becomes absurdly powerful after reaching Level 2. That premise contains nearly every ingredient viewers have come to expect from modern isekai, but the series quickly reveals that defeating enemies and demonstrating overwhelming power are not really what Flio wants from his second life.
Instead, Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers mixes fantasy adventure with romance, comedy, domestic life, and a surprisingly persistent theme of coexistence. Flio wants nothing to do with the war between humans and demons, while Fenrys—the powerful demon wolf who initially confronts him—eventually becomes his partner and wife. Their increasingly unusual household grows around them as knights, demons, monsters, former enemies, and other eccentric characters gradually enter their lives. The result is less about an overpowered protagonist conquering another world and more about an overpowered protagonist repeatedly trying to convince that world to leave him alone.
Produced by J.C.Staff, the first anime season aired from April to June 2024 and contains 12 episodes. More importantly for fans who have been waiting for another chapter, Season 2 was officially announced on July 4, 2026, accompanied by a commemorative visual and announcement video.
Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers – Official Trailer
What Is Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers About?
The story begins with Banaza, a merchant from another world who is summoned by the Magical Kingdom of Klyrode as a potential hero. The kingdom regularly summons outsiders because it desperately wants someone capable of helping humanity in its long-running conflict against the Dark One and his demon forces. Unfortunately for Banaza, his Level 1 abilities appear completely ordinary, and the kingdom quickly decides that it summoned the wrong man.
Things become considerably worse when Banaza discovers that he cannot simply be returned home. Instead of accepting responsibility for the situation, the kingdom effectively disposes of him by sending him toward a dangerous frontier. Banaza eventually defeats a slime, reaches Level 2, and discovers that his statistics have transformed into something completely unexpected: infinity. The supposedly useless hero candidate has suddenly become unimaginably powerful.
Rather than returning to Klyrode and demanding recognition, Banaza changes his appearance, adopts the name Flio, and attempts to build a peaceful existence for himself. That decision defines the entire series. He possesses enough power to become a major force in the human-demon war, yet he has very little interest in becoming anyone’s weapon.
Then he meets Fenrys, and the quiet life he imagined becomes considerably more complicated.
Is Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers Worth Watching?
The series is particularly easy to recommend to viewers who enjoy lighthearted isekai, fantasy romance, domestic comedy, and extremely powerful protagonists who are not obsessed with becoming stronger. Flio does not spend the season grinding toward ultimate power because the central joke is that he essentially acquires overwhelming power immediately. The question becomes what someone who does not actually desire domination does with that power.
That allows the anime to focus heavily on relationships. Flio and Fenrys become the emotional center very quickly, while the supporting cast gradually transforms their home into an increasingly bizarre found family. Political conflict and dangerous enemies remain present, but they coexist with farming, cooking, shopping, awkward romance, household arguments, hot springs, and characters attempting to live ordinary lives despite being surrounded by fantasy chaos.
It will not appeal equally to everyone. Viewers searching for a serious action-heavy fantasy or elaborate progression system may find its relaxed approach too gentle, while the sheer strength of its protagonist removes much of the conventional suspense from combat. But that is largely intentional. The appeal comes from watching someone who could dominate the world continually choose a more peaceful path.
Why Should You Watch Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers?
One of the anime’s biggest advantages is that it understands its own premise. Flio’s infinite power could easily turn the story into twelve episodes of effortless victories designed solely to demonstrate how impressive the protagonist is. Instead, his abilities frequently become a tool for comedy, diplomacy, protection, and keeping other factions from dragging him into their conflicts.
The romance is another major attraction. Fenrys does not remain a distant love interest waiting for dozens of episodes of romantic progress. Her relationship with Flio becomes central very early, and the anime openly embraces their domestic chemistry. This gives the series a different rhythm from fantasy romances built almost entirely around unresolved attraction.
There is also a genuinely entertaining contrast between the supposedly failed Banaza and the Blonde Hero, the man initially celebrated by Klyrode as its true champion. The latter’s continued incompetence becomes one of the show’s recurring jokes, while Flio repeatedly demonstrates the qualities expected of a hero without actually wanting the title.
Flio Is Overpowered but Does Not Want to Be a Hero
Banaza, later known as Flio, is voiced in Japanese by Satoshi Hino and in the English dub by Mauricio Ortiz-Segura. He begins as a merchant rather than a warrior, and that background helps explain why his reaction to infinite power differs from the usual power-fantasy protagonist.
Flio does not immediately decide to conquer kingdoms, become the greatest adventurer alive, or defeat the Dark One. He wants stability. Having come from a society affected by prejudice and slavery, he is also uncomfortable with the rigid hostility between humans and demons in his new world. His refusal to automatically accept either faction’s worldview gradually becomes one of his defining characteristics.
That does not mean he is passive. Flio will intervene when innocent people are threatened, and the anime demonstrates how terrifying his power can become when someone he loves is genuinely endangered. However, violence is normally something he would rather prevent than seek out.
That distinction keeps him surprisingly likable despite the inherent difficulty of writing a protagonist whose statistics effectively make normal power scaling meaningless.
Fenrys Is More Than the Main Love Interest
Fenrys, commonly called Rys, is a demon wolf voiced by Rie Kugimiya in Japanese and Megan Shipman in English. She initially encounters Flio as an enemy, but their relationship changes dramatically after he defeats her.
The traditions of her tribe lead Fenrys to recognize Flio’s strength, but what begins through that unusual cultural expectation develops into genuine love. She becomes fiercely devoted to him and embraces their married life with an enthusiasm responsible for much of the anime’s comedy and charm.
Rys is also important because she makes Flio’s neutrality toward the human-demon war personal rather than purely philosophical. His closest companion is herself a demon. Their relationship demonstrates on an intimate level that the divisions driving the larger war do not necessarily define the individuals living on either side.
Her personality also prevents the romance from becoming too gentle. Rys can be affectionate one moment and frighteningly territorial the next, particularly when she believes someone is interfering with her husband or threatening the quiet life they are trying to create.
Flio and Fenrys Give the Anime Its Identity
The relationship between Flio and Fenrys is arguably what most clearly separates Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers from the enormous number of other anime built around an overpowered isekai protagonist.
The official anime introduction itself describes the series as the turbulent newlywed story of a transcendent man who changes his identity to live in another world and a demon who falls in love with a human. Its stated goal is essentially to pursue a peaceful slow life while drawing every imaginable race into their orbit.
That description is unusually accurate to the anime’s actual personality. The fantasy conflict creates the circumstances around the characters, but the relationship gives those circumstances emotional meaning.
It also explains why Fenrys became such a visible part of the show’s identity. The Season 2 announcement visual centers on her happily making a peace sign, while the announcement itself promises the continuation of the Flio household’s story rather than repositioning the series around a completely different conflict.
The Supporting Characters Turn Flio’s Home Into a Found Family
Flio and Rys do not remain alone for very long.
Balirossa leads a group of adventurers who eventually become part of Flio’s household. She begins as a knight seeking to restore her family’s lost prestige and develops into one of the more important supporting characters, particularly through her unusual relationship with former Dark One Gholl.
Her companions include Blossom, a powerful swordswoman with farming experience; Belano, a defensive mage whose limited magical endurance pushes her toward a different career; and Byleri, an archer whose real talents are more closely connected to horses and practical work. Sybe, a psychobear capable of assuming an adorable rabbit-like form, adds another eccentric member to the household.
As these characters settle into Flio’s life, the anime increasingly resembles a fantasy ensemble comedy. Characters originally connected through war gradually find new roles as farmers, merchants, teachers, companions, and friends.
That transformation is part of the point. Flio’s peaceful life does not isolate him from the world; it gradually creates an alternative community inside it.
Gholl Is Not Your Typical Demon Lord
Another character who helps the anime subvert its expected structure is Gholl, also known as Ghozal, voiced by Tomoaki Maeno.
Gholl is the twelfth Dark One to hold the title during the centuries-long conflict between demons and humanity, but he is not particularly interested in unnecessary warfare. His initial interest in Flio comes from the possibility of recruiting someone overwhelmingly powerful, yet their relationship gradually becomes genuine friendship.
This creates an amusing situation where the supposed central enemy of humanity can casually spend time around the protagonist while the supposedly heroic human leadership frequently causes more trouble.
Gholl’s developing affection for Balirossa adds another layer to the human-demon theme. Like Flio and Rys, their relationship challenges the idea that the two sides must remain permanently defined by the war.
The series rarely presents this theme with heavy philosophical dialogue. It generally prefers comedy, romance, and everyday interactions, which fits its relaxed tone much better.
The Blonde Hero Is the Complete Opposite of Flio
If Flio demonstrates what heroism can look like without the title, the unnamed Blonde Hero demonstrates how meaningless the title can become without the character to support it.
Voiced by Taishi Murata in Japanese and Monty Thompson in English, he initially receives the recognition Banaza was denied. However, his inflated sense of importance is not supported by comparable growth or courage, and his attempts to preserve his heroic status repeatedly create absurd situations.
His companion Tsuya remains remarkably loyal despite his failures, and the pair gradually become something close to a parallel comedy running alongside Flio’s story.
Interestingly, their incompetence sometimes produces useful outcomes completely by accident. That allows the Blonde Hero to remain ridiculous without becoming entirely irrelevant.
The contrast is obvious but effective: the kingdom chooses its hero based on impressive initial numbers, dismisses Banaza because his numbers look ordinary, and discovers that both judgments were spectacularly wrong.
The Human-Demon War Gives the Story More Depth Than Its Title Suggests
Beneath the relaxed domestic comedy sits a conflict that has lasted for centuries.
The Kingdom of Klyrode summons hero candidates because humanity remains locked in war against the Dark One and his forces. The problem is that the series gradually makes clear that neither “human” nor “demon” automatically tells viewers whether someone is compassionate, reasonable, dangerous, or foolish.
Flio refuses to choose a faction simply because he was summoned by humans. Rys is a demon who becomes his wife. Gholl is a Demon Lord who dislikes pointless bloodshed. Princess Elizabeth proves much more reasonable than the king who preceded her. Meanwhile, individuals on both sides can perpetuate the conflict for their own reasons.
This gives Flio’s dream of a peaceful slow life broader significance. He is not merely trying to avoid responsibility. His household gradually becomes evidence that coexistence between the supposedly incompatible sides is possible.
How Many Episodes Does Season 1 Have?
The first season contains 12 episodes, beginning with “A Level 2 Hero Candidate” and concluding with the two-part hot spring storyline in June 2024. The season aired in Japan from April 8 through June 24, 2024.
Crunchyroll currently lists the episodes at approximately 24 minutes each and offers the series in subtitled and dubbed formats. The platform lists Japanese alongside English, German, French, and Brazilian Portuguese audio options for the first episode, with subtitles available in numerous languages.
The 12-episode length works reasonably well for the show’s relaxed structure. There is enough time to establish Flio and Rys, expand their household, introduce the larger political conflict, and bring major human and demon characters into the story without exhausting the much larger source material.
Season 1 Story and Progression
Season 1 begins with Banaza’s disastrous summoning and apparent rejection before quickly revealing the Level 2 transformation promised by the title. He adopts his Flio identity, meets Fenrys, and begins constructing the quieter existence he actually wants.
The household then expands rapidly. Balirossa and her companions become increasingly connected to Flio, Rys attempts to settle into married life, Gholl begins taking an interest in the mysterious outsider, and both the human kingdom and demon forces struggle to understand why someone so powerful refuses to join either side.
The middle of the season demonstrates the darker side of Flio’s abilities through his confrontation with Hiya, while later episodes increasingly explore the political changes occurring within both the human kingdom and the Dark Army. By the final episodes, Flio’s household has become a meeting point for characters who theoretically should be enemies.
The season consequently ends with considerably more possibilities than it began with, which is particularly useful now that another season has officially been ordered.
Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers Season 2 Is Official
Fans no longer need to wonder whether the anime will continue.
Season 2 was officially announced on July 4, 2026. The official anime website published a commemorative visual and announcement material, while Overlap released a teaser video confirming that production had been greenlit.
What has not been announced is equally important. As of October 2026, the official site does not provide a premiere date, broadcast season, episode count, or complete Season 2 production and cast lineup. Any specific release window circulating without a new official announcement should therefore be treated cautiously.
Original author Miya Kinojo did provide a useful indication of the direction. In the official celebration message, Kinojo said the story of Flio, Rys, and the wider Flio family will return on a larger scale, with familiar characters continuing their adventures and new characters appearing in Season 2. The author also specifically teased further misadventures for the Blonde Hero.
That is enough to confirm the anime is expanding without spoiling material from the novels for viewers who want to remain anime-only.
What Could Season 2 Cover?
There is plenty of source material available, but predicting the exact Season 2 adaptation range would be premature until the production reveals more information.
The important point is that the anime is nowhere close to exhausting the franchise. The supplied publication information shows 22 Japanese light novel volumes as of September 20, 2026, while the manga adaptation reached 15 collected volumes on the same date.
The official Season 2 announcement also deliberately avoids giving away the next storyline. Its teaser primarily looks back at Season 1 and confirms the continuation rather than functioning as a conventional trailer full of new footage.
For now, anime-only viewers can safely expect more of Flio and Rys’s household, new characters, and further expansion of the world without needing to know which specific light-novel events will be adapted.
Who Is Making the Anime?
The first season was produced by J.C.Staff, one of Japan’s most prolific animation studios.
Yoshiaki Iwasaki directed the anime, with Megumi Shimizu handling series scripts. Sōta Suwa handled character designs, while Kujira Yumemi composed the music.
J.C.Staff’s involvement suited the material well because the series does not depend exclusively on elaborate battle animation. Character comedy, facial expressions, romance, and the comfortable domestic atmosphere are just as important as the occasional displays of Flio’s ridiculous power.
As of October 2026, however, viewers should not automatically assume every Season 1 production credit will return for Season 2 until the official staff announcement confirms it.
The Voice Cast
The anime has a particularly recognizable Japanese voice cast.
Satoshi Hino voices Flio, while Rie Kugimiya voices Fenrys. The pairing gives the central couple much of its comedic energy, especially because Rys shifts effortlessly between loving wife, jealous partner, dangerous demon, and enthusiastic participant in the couple’s increasingly chaotic domestic life.
The supporting Japanese cast includes Aya Yamane as Balirossa, Mari Hino as Blossom, Yuuki Hirose as Byleri, Nene Hieda as Belano, Tomoaki Maeno as Gholl, Yukari Tamura as Uliminas, Yui Horie as Hiya, Ayako Kawasumi as Elizabeth, Taishi Murata as the Blonde Hero, Mikako Takahashi as Tsuya, Shizuka Itō as Damalynas, Taiten Kusunoki as Yuigarde, and Satomi Arai as Phufun.
Crunchyroll also carries an English dub, making the series accessible to viewers who prefer dubbed anime.
The Opening Theme Became One of the Anime’s Most Memorable Features
Even viewers who never watched the entire anime may have encountered its unusually cheerful opening.
“Danna-sama to no Love-Love Love Song” is performed by Rie Kugimiya in character as Fenrys. The title roughly communicates exactly what the sequence delivers: an extremely enthusiastic love song devoted to her husband. The ending theme, “Utopia Gaku-Gairon,” is performed by DIALOGUE+.
The opening fits the anime remarkably well because it immediately tells viewers what sort of show they are watching. This may technically be an isekai about infinite statistics, demons, hero candidates, magic, and war, but Fenrys’s overwhelming affection for Flio is just as central to its identity.
The song also became one of the more recognizable elements surrounding the show’s original 2024 run, something later coverage of the Season 2 announcement specifically noted when discussing the first season’s popularity.
The Light Novel Came Before the Anime
The anime originates from a much longer-running light novel series written by Miya Kinojo and illustrated by Katagiri.
The story initially appeared through the user-generated novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō, where it was serialized between 2016 and 2019. Overlap subsequently acquired the work and began publishing the commercial light novel edition under its Overlap Novels imprint in December 2016.
The series has continued far beyond the material shown in the first anime season. By September 20, 2026, 22 Japanese volumes had been released, demonstrating just how much story exists beyond the adaptation.
For English-language readers, the light novels are licensed by J-Novel Club. The supplied publication record shows English releases progressing through Volume 20 by August 2026.
There Is Also a Manga Adaptation
Readers who prefer manga have another way to experience the story.
The manga adaptation is illustrated by Akine Itomachi and began serialization through Overlap’s Comic Gardo website in January 2019. By September 20, 2026, it had reached 15 collected Japanese volumes.
Seven Seas Entertainment licenses the manga in North America. The supplied release information shows Volume 13 receiving an English release in September 2026, with Volume 14 scheduled for March 23, 2027.
The existence of active light novel, manga, anime, and game versions also shows that this has grown into a broader franchise rather than remaining a single-season anime experiment.
The Franchise Has Passed 3.6 Million Copies
The source material was already commercially successful before the anime appeared.
When the television adaptation was announced in October 2023, Overlap reported that the series had surpassed 2 million copies in circulation across print and digital editions.
That number grew after the anime’s release. The official anime website announced 3.4 million copies in March 2025, and Japanese reporting surrounding the July 2026 Season 2 announcement stated that the franchise had exceeded 3.6 million copies.
That growth helps explain why another anime season makes sense despite the two-year gap between Season 1 and its renewal announcement.
Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers: Reverse Dive
The franchise also has its own browser MMORPG, Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers: Reverse Dive.
Although the supplied material describes the game as announced for a worldwide release, G123 confirms that it actually launched on November 22, 2023. It is an HTML5 browser game that can be played through smartphones, tablets, and computers without a traditional download.
Reverse Dive allows players to explore a large 3D map, recruit characters, fight magical beasts, and experience a game adaptation of the franchise’s fantasy world. Players select from four protagonist options, and the game even includes a marriage system inspired by the newlywed-life element that defines Flio and Rys’s relationship.
The game is free-to-play with optional purchases and remains accessible through G123. Play Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers: Reverse Dive

Reception and Popularity
Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers did not become notable because it reinvented isekai from the ground up. Its popularity instead appears to come from how comfortably it combines familiar genre elements with romance and slow-life comedy.
The franchise’s circulation growth provides the clearest measurable indication of that popularity. Going from more than two million copies around the anime announcement to more than 3.6 million by the Season 2 announcement represents substantial expansion.
The anime also developed recognizable elements of its own, particularly Fenrys, her relationship with Flio, and the infectious opening song. Rather than relying entirely on power-scaling conversations around its protagonist, the show established an identity around the household and relationships surrounding him.
Season 2’s confirmation more than two years after Season 1 finished airing is perhaps the most meaningful sign that the franchise retained enough interest to continue.
Why the Anime Works Despite Flio Being Ridiculously Powerful
Writing an invincible protagonist is difficult because overwhelming strength can destroy tension. If audiences already know Flio can defeat virtually anything placed in front of him, traditional battle suspense becomes difficult to sustain.
The anime solves that problem by making physical victory only one part of what matters.
Flio cannot solve prejudice simply by having infinite statistics. He cannot force humans and demons to understand one another without becoming the very authoritarian figure he refuses to be. His power cannot automatically create meaningful relationships, and it cannot guarantee that the eccentric people around him will behave sensibly.
Most importantly, his desired outcome is not victory.
It is peace.
That turns the usual isekai power fantasy slightly sideways. The strongest man in the room repeatedly spends his time trying to create circumstances where being the strongest man in the room does not matter.
Chillin’ in Another World Is Really a Romance Disguised as a Power Fantasy
The title emphasizes Flio’s cheat abilities, but the anime’s emotional identity is arguably much closer to a fantasy romantic comedy.
Flio and Rys establish their relationship early enough that the story can actually explore what happens afterward. Instead of spending the entire season wondering whether the characters will eventually admit they like one another, viewers get domestic comedy, jealousy, affection, arguments, dates, and the increasingly sincere bond developing between them.
Their marriage also supports the larger theme of coexistence. A human and demon building a peaceful home together is effectively a miniature version of the future Flio hopes might eventually become possible for the wider world.
This is why the romance does not feel completely detached from the fantasy conflict.
The relationship itself quietly contradicts the assumptions sustaining that conflict.

Conclusion
Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers sounds like pure isekai wish fulfillment when reduced to its title: a rejected hero candidate reaches Level 2, gains effectively infinite power, and becomes stronger than almost everyone around him. The anime is far more interested, however, in what Flio chooses not to do with that strength. He does not want a throne, a legendary title, or command of an army. He wants a home, a peaceful life with Rys, and eventually a world where the humans and demons surrounding them do not automatically need to be enemies.
That choice gives the series its charm. Flio and Rys provide a genuine romantic center, while Balirossa, Gholl, Blossom, Belano, Byleri, Uliminas, Hiya, the Blonde Hero, and the rest of the increasingly chaotic ensemble turn the story into something resembling a fantasy found-family comedy. Battles and political conflicts still matter, but they exist alongside farming, commerce, romance, friendship, and the everyday absurdity of trying to maintain a quiet household when half the people visiting it could probably alter the balance of power between nations.
The future also looks considerably healthier than it did when Season 1 ended in 2024. The source material continues to expand, with 22 Japanese light novel volumes and 15 manga volumes available by September 2026, while the franchise has grown well beyond the two-million-copy milestone it had reached before the anime premiered. Most importantly, Season 2 is now officially happening.
There is no confirmed Season 2 release date yet, so speculation about exactly when Flio and Rys return should remain speculation for now. What is confirmed is enough to be encouraging: the Flio household will continue, familiar characters will return to the story, new characters are coming, and the author has indicated that the next stage will expand the scale while keeping Flio and Rys at its center. For an anime built around a man with infinite power who would rather spend his time creating a peaceful home with the woman he loves, that sounds exactly like the continuation it needs.
